BRITISH PRIME MINISTER'S TELEPHONE CALL TO PRESIDENT

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called President Pervez Musharraf over telephone this morning and exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral relations, war against terrorism and other issues of interest to the two counties.

Genera Pervez Musharraf congratulated Mr. Gordon Brown on assuming the premiership of the United Kingdom and hoped that relations between the two countries will further improve in different fields under his leadership.

He appreciated Pakistan 's cooperation in the war against terrorism. Mr. Brown said that the international community sees Pakistan as an important Muslim country with a vital role in international affairs.

President Musharraf is one of the few world leaders who have been contacted by the new British Prime Minister after assuming his responsibilities.
