FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES OF P-5

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi held discussions today with Permanent Representatives to the United Nations of China, France , Russia , United Kingdom and the United States . He also met with the Permanent Representatives of several important Islamic countries.

Matters of bilateral interest and current global issues including the development agenda as well as the food and energy crises came under discussion during these meetings.

The Foreign Minister also informed his interlocutors of the policies of the new government, highlighting in particular the comprehensive strategy to tackle terrorism and extremism, giving primacy to dialogue and economic development. The Permanent Representatives expressed understanding of the policies of the Government of Pakistan and assured the Foreign Minister of their support and cooperation.
