U.S. AMBASSADOR CALLS ON THE FOREIGN MINISTER

The U.S. Ambassador called on the Foreign Minister at his office today.

During the meeting bilateral relations and matters relating to the Prime Minister's upcoming visit to the U.S. were discussed. The Foreign Minister emphasised the importance of broad-based and long-term relationship between the two countries, going beyond security cooperation. He also focused on enhancing trade and economic relations and people-to-people contacts.

The Prime Minister will be travelling to Washington for his meeting with President Bush scheduled on 28 July.
