MEETING BETWEEN FOREIGN MINISTER MAKHDOOM SHAH MAHMOOD QURESHI AND THE FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTER BERNARD KOUCHNER
On June 13, 2008, Foreign Minister of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Bernard Kouchner in Paris . Foreign Minister Qureshi is in Paris to attend the International Conference in Support of Afghanistan .
The meeting mainly focused on Pakistan-France relations and the regional situation. Both sides reaffirmed their desire to enhance bilateral trade and cooperation.
Bernard Kouchner praised the efforts of the Government of Pakistan in fight against extremism and reaffirmed French support for Pakistan . Foreign Minister Qureshi and Foreign Minister Kouchner also discussed the means and strategies that should be implemented for the stability and development of Afghanistan in the light of the Conference that was held yesterday in Paris . Both sides emphasized the necessity of adopting a global strategy, which would reinforce the efforts of international community in different fields including fight against drug trafficking and terrorism.
