U.S. AMBASSADOR CALLS ON THE FOREIGN MINISTER  

U.S. Ambassador Anne W. Patterson called on Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi at the Foreign Office today.

The discussions focused on follow-up on the meeting held between the Foreign Minister and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Paris on 13 June 2008.

The discussions also covered matters relating to bilateral economic engagement, defence and security cooperation, counter-terrorism, progress on Reconstruction Opportunity Zones (ROZs), energy cooperation, and interaction in multilateral fora.

Regional issues, including Afghanistan and Pakistan-India dialogue, were also discussed.

The commitment of both sides to foster close cooperation in all fields of mutual interest was reaffirmed.
