FOREIGN MINISTER'S REMARKS ON ARRIVAL IN NEW DELHI

This is my first official visit to India as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, which I am undertaking at the kind invitation of H.E. Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.

During this visit, I shall hold talks with H.E. Pranab Mukherjee, the External Affairs Minister of India, on all issues of mutual interest. We will follow up on our discussion held in Islamabad last month. We will explore the possibility of promoting further bilateral cooperation and also discuss the outstanding issues including Jammu & Kashmir.

I shall also call on the Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Manmohan Singh, and other important political figures to convey my government's sincere desire to establish peaceful and friendly relations with India.

The on-going peace process is central to peace, security and prosperity in our region.

It is in our common interest to deepen this process through partnership in peace and development. It is, therefore, important that both countries now move from conflict management to conflict resolution.

I am looking forward to fruitful and productive discussions with the Indian leadership.
