FIRST MEETING OF PAKISTAN-CANADA JOINT WORKING GROUP (JWG)
The first meeting of the Pakistan-Canada Joint Working Group (JWG) was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. The focus of the Joint Working Group is on enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and economic relations as well as social sector development. The Pakistan delegation was led by Ms. Attiya Mahmood, Additional Secretary ( Americas ) while the Canadian side was led by Mr. David Collins, Canadian High Commissioner in Islamabad .
2. The agenda of the Joint Working Group included matters relating to trade, investment, finance and economic affairs, agriculture, energy, science & technology and education. The two sides discussed specific proposals to enhance bilateral cooperation in these areas.
3. Focal points on both sides were identified to ensure systematic follow- up on the points agreed during the first meeting. It was also decided to hold the meetings of the Joint Working Group once every six months.
