GERMAN MEDIA DELEGATION CALLS ON THE FOREIGN MINISTER

A German media delegation met the Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi today to get briefing on the regional and domestic political situation as well as Pakistan-Germany bilateral relations.

Foreign Minister Qureshi briefed the German journalists on situation in FATA which he termed as fallout of the events and political situation in Afghanistan. The Foreign Minister also mentioned the economic and security challenges inherited by the democratic government and the government’s strategy to deal with them.

The Foreign Minister also underlined that Pakistan was in the fore-front of war on terror.  He underscored that no single country possessed the capacity to win this war on its own.  The democratic government’s strategy to win hearts and minds of the tribal people was proving successful and the people are fully backing the government in its efforts to fight militancy and extremism in tribal areas. The Foreign Minister, however, underlined that attacks from across the border into Pakistani territory were counter-productive and causing harm to the government’s efforts.
