FOREIGN MINISTER QURESHI INVITES HIS AFGHAN COUNTERPART TO VISIT PAKISTAN
Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi has invited the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta to visit Pakistan at an early date. The invitation was conveyed through a letter. It is a follow up on the agreement reached between Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and President Hamid Karzai in their meeting held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on the sidelines of the 15th SAARC Summit that the two Foreign Ministers will meet to prepare grounds for a framework for close and constructive engagement between the two countries to build confidence and develop a common strategy at the political, military and intelligence levels. This decision on purposeful and broad ranging engagement was announced in the Joint Statement issued after the breakfast meeting between the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the President of Afghanistan on 3 August 2008.
