FOREIGN MINISTER QURESHI MEETS WITH THE AFGHAN FOREIGN MINISTER

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is visiting New York in connection with the 63rd UNGA Session, met with Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, today.

2.       The Foreign Minister of Afghanistan thanked Foreign Minister Qureshi for his invitation to visit Pakistan which he planned to undertake in the near future. The two Foreign Ministers discussed ways and means to strengthen bilateral relations and have a fruitful and result oriented visit of the Afghan Foreign Minister to Pakistan .

3.       Foreign Minister Qureshi strongly condemned the kidnapping of Afghan diplomat in Peshawar and assured Dr. Spanta that the Government of Pakistan was making every effort for his early recovery.

4.       The two Foreign Ministers, terming terrorism as a common challange, reiterated their resolve to jointly fight extremist elements along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
