FOREIGN MINISTER QURESHI MEETS FOREIGN MINISTER OF UAE
Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met the Foreign Minister of United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahayan on the sidelines of the 63rd Session of the UN General Assembly in New York today.
2. Foreign Minister Qureshi thanked the UAE Foreign Minister for participating in the meeting of Friends of Pakistan in New York and for offering to host the next meeting in UAE. The purpose of setting up this group was to create global ownership of the problem of terrorism and extremism confronting the region. The period before the next session, he stressed, should be utilized to create the structures and modalities to gain maximum benefit from the initiative.
3. The Foreign Minister of UAE said that his country always considered Pakistan to be a good friend and ally and looked forward to playing a role for supporting the country and its leadership. UAE was a major investor in Pakistan and wanted to continue doing so. He appreciated the contribution of more than 900,000 Pakistanis working in the UAE.
4. The two Foreign Ministers expressed satisfaction over the state of bilateral relations and discussed the modalities for holding of the next session of Friends of Pakistan group in Abu Dhabi.
