PAKISTAN’S AMBASSADOR TO LIBYA PRESENTS HIS LETTER OF CREDENCE
The Ambassador-designate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Jamil Ahmed Khan, presented his Letter of Credence to the Secretary General of the Libyan General People’s Congress (Speaker of the Parliament) in a simple but impressive ceremony in Tripoli (Libya) yesterday. The Ambassador had arrived in Tripoli on 17 April 2009.
Priority accorded to the ambassador to present his Credentials within a short span of time, indicates the enthusiasm and eagerness of the Libyan Leadership to comprehensively upgrade its relations with Pakistan.
The Secretary General of the Libyan General People’s Congress while warmly welcoming the Ambassador underlined the desire of the Libyan Leadership to expand the scope of bilateral relations in all spheres of activity including cooperation in OIC, NAM and International Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Recalling the historical and emotional bonds of friendship between Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Colonel Muammar al Qaddafi, the Secretary General reiterated the sentiments of the libyan Leadership and its People towards further strengthening and deepening this relationship. He added that the forthcoming State visit of the President of Pakistan to Libya comes at an opportune moment.
The Ambassador while warmly reciprocating the kind sentiments of the Speaker conveyed greetings of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to the Libyan Leadership and pledged to work tirelessly towards achieving the highest goals set by the two leaders.
