JUDICIAL INQUIRY ON THE GOJRA INCIDENT

 

          The Government of Pakistan has at the highest levels strongly condemned the incident of violence in Gojra on 1 August which resulted in the loss of precious lives and damage to property. The incident has shocked the entire nation.

          The President and the Prime Minister expressed their abhorrence on the heinous incident and ordered a high-level inquiry to bring the culprits to justice.

          On the request of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Chief Justice Lahore High Court has already initiated a judicial inquiry into the incident.

          The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights to all its citizens irrespective of race, religion and creed.

          The democratic Government of Pakistan is firmly committed to protecting the fundamental rights of all citizens and to promoting tolerance, understanding and harmony among all its citizens, all religions and sections of the society.
