FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVES SIR MARK LYALL-GRANT

 

Sir Mark Lyall-Grant, Director General (Political) at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office called on the Foreign Minister today. His visit to Pakistan is part of the strategic dialogue process between the two countries. Strategic Dialogue was established during the meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Gordon Brown in London in May 2009.

Sir Mark conveyed Foreign Secretary David Miliband’s appreciation for hosting his last visit to Pakistan that allowed him to see cultural aspects of Pakistani society and to follow up on the strategic dialogue process.  

The Foreign Minister and the Director General reviewed the ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and UK and expressed satisfaction over the current trajectory of bilateral relations between the two countries. They stressed the need to further strengthen these relations. During the meeting, regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed

The Foreign Minister shared his views on important domestic and regional developments: law enforcement operations and rehabilitation of dislocated people; FODP; situation in Afghanistan: and, the recent interaction between the leadership of Pakistan and India.

They also discussed the upcoming visit of President Zardari to UK in September.
