US SENATOR CALLS ON THE FOREIGN MINISTER
Republican Senator Robert Corker called on the Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi at the Foreign Office today, and discussed matters of mutual interest including bilateral and regional issues.
Senator Corker appreciated the efforts made by the Government of Pakistan in its fight against extremism and terrorism. He also praised the sacrifices made by the Pakistani soldiers and members of the security forces in this effort. The Senator expressed keen interest in the energy sector, and termed Pakistan a country with “great potential” as far as the investment opportunities were concerned.
The Foreign Minister thanked the Senator for the Kerry-Lugar bill. Discussions were also held on the need for developing a public diplomacy strategy to win the hearts and minds of the Pakistani people.
