FOREIGN MINISTER QURESHI MEETS IRAN 'S FOREIGN MINISTER  

Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met his Iranian counterpart, Mr. Manouchehr Mottaki on the sidelines of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FODP) Ministerial Meeting in Istanbul today. During the meeting, bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest were discussed.

The two Foreign Ministers expressed satisfaction at the current trajectory of bilateral relations between the two countries and resolved to strengthen the same in all fields, particularly in the energy sector. They also agreed to take follow-up action on the agreed framework of trilateral (Pakistan-Iran-Afghanistan) cooperation.

The two Foreign Ministers welcomed the successful holding of the Presidential and Provincial council elections in Afghanistan and reiterated their resolve to work together to contribute towards a lasting peace in Afghanistan.
