FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS AMBASSADORS OF KUWAIT AND BAHRAIN
The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, held meetings with the Ambassadors of Kuwait and Bahrain today in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Foreign Minister handed over a letter from the President of Pakistan addressed to the leaders of the two countries, seeking their continued support in matters related to the dislocated people from Swat and adjoining areas.
The Foreign Minister briefed the Ambassadors on the evolving situation in Swat and adjoining areas and updated them on the humanitarian assistance being provided to the dislocated people. The Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassadors for support extended to Pakistan by their respective countries and for standing side by side with Pakistan in these difficult times. The Foreign Minister emphasized that while security operations are proceeding successfully, it is essential that the dislocated people are provided adequate relief assistance.
On situation regarding the dislocated population, the Foreign Minister said the Government of Pakistan is doing its utmost to look after its own people and provide them all the requisite assistance. The Foreign Minister added that the people of Pakistan count on the support of Muslim brotherly countries with whom we enjoy excellent fraternal relations.
The Ambassadors of Kuwait and Bahrain said that they understand the enormity of the task and appreciated the way the Government was dealing with it. They expressed full support to the Government in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
