Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met Mr. Vladimir Norov, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. They recalled close historical links and cultural affinities between the peoples of two countries and exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international affairs.
They expressed satisfaction on the steady growth in bilateral economic relations. The Uzbek Foreign Minister said that as a landlocked country they looked forward to using Pakistan's ports facilities once the situation in Afghanistan stabilizes.
The two leaders exchanged views on Afghanistan and overall security situation in the region. They underlined the need for closer cooperation among regional countries in economic, trade and other fields.
The two leaders also exchanged views on Security Council reform.
