The Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Dr. Saleh Al-Jawarneh, made a farewell call on Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi today.
The Foreign Minister warmly received the Ambassador. He recalled that Pakistan and Jordan enjoyed very warm and friendly relations. The people of Pakistan held the King of Jordan in high esteem, and there existed tremendous goodwill between the two countries.
The Foreign Minister lauded the Ambassador’s efforts and role in strengthening ties between the two countries during his tour of duty in Islamabad. He hoped that the Ambassador would continue these efforts even after his departure from Pakistan.
The Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Jordan’s prompt assistance to the flood afectees. The Government of Jordan has sent 3.5 tons of medicines and food items for the flood affectees. A 25-member medical team of the Royal Jordanian Medical Services is also working in the flood affected areas for providing medical assistance to the affectees.
The Ambassador thanked the Foreign Minister for the help and cooperation he had received from the Government of Pakistan in the discharge of his duties. He said he was sad to leave Pakistan, the country with which he had such a long association. Prior to his diplomatic career, the Ambassador had studied at Karachi University and completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He had also served as Second Secretary in the Embassy of Jordan, Islamabad in the early 1990s.
