PR. NO. 211/2010

Date: 27/08/2010

Mr. Spanta’s remarks are inconsistent with excellent Pakistan-Afghanistan relations

Responding to a question regarding reported remarks by Mr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, National Security Advisor of Afghanistan in an interview to The Washington Post on 26 August 2010, the Spokesman said that Pakistan and Afghanistan enjoyed excellent relations. Mr. Spantas’s reported remarks were clearly inconsistent with this reality and the abiding spirit of fraternity and goodwill between the peoples of the two countries. We understood and shared the pain and suffering of our Afghan brethren. The Spokesman emphasized that Pakistan was resolved to continue working with Afghanistan and the international community to eradicate violent extremism, and not to be distracted by Mr. Spanta’s frequent unjustified public accusations against Pakistan.
