FODP MEETING IN ISLAMABAD

A meeting of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FODP) countries' missions in Islamabad was held in the Foreign Office today.  The meeting was chaired by Mr. Abdul Basit, Additional Secretary/Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming FODP's Public-Private Partnership Conference being held in Dubai on 26 January 2010.  The FODP representatives were informed that four sectors, namely; (i) Energy; (ii) Infrastructure Development; (iii) Agriculture and Agro-based Industry; and (iv) Social Sector – Education and Health had been identified for Public-Private Partnerships.  It was stressed that Pakistan offered one of the friendliest foreign investment regimes and the Public-Private Partnership frameworks in the world.  The big presence of foreign private companies in Pakistan, which were making lucrative business, was testimony to myriad opportunities Pakistan offered for foreign companies.

The FODP representatives expressed their full support to the FODP process and to make the upcoming conference in Dubai a success.
