Mr. Bernd Mützelburg Special Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany for Afghanistan & Pakistan called on Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi today. The German Ambassador Mr. Michael Koch was also present.

The two discussed matters of bilateral, regional and international significance. Mr. Qureshi briefed the German Special Representative on the recent state visit of Afghan President Hamid Karzai to Pakistan. He underscored the positive role Pakistan is playing for the reconstruction of Afghanistan and restoration of peace in that country.

Mr. Qureshi gave an overview of Pakistan-India relations, especially the recent Foreign Secretary level talks between the two countries. Pakistan’s relations with the European Union also figured prominently. The Foreign Minister stressed that the EU must provide greater market access to Pakistan and Germany, being an important economic player in the Union, should play its due role in this regard.
