Following are the texts of condolence messages from the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister for their New Zealand counterparts on the disastrous earthquake that struck the Canterbury region:

Excellency,
We have been shocked and saddened at the loss of precious lives and damage to property caused by the disastrous earthquake that struck the Canterbury region.
On behalf of the people and the Government of Pakistan and on my own behalf, I would like to convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and all those who have been affected by the terrible natural calamity. We are sure that the resilient people of New Zealand will recover, very soon, from the aftermath of this disaster.
Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.

Excellency,
I was shocked and deeply dismayed to learn about the massive earthquake that struck the Canterbury region. We further learnt that Christchurch city had suffered extensive damage to its physical infrastructure.
Our hearts go out to the affected people. We share with the government and the friendly people of New Zealand, the distress and sorrow, in these challenging times.
Excellency, on my behalf and on behalf of the Government and the people of Pakistan, please convey our condolences to the families affected by this calamity.
I would like to avail this opportunity to extend to Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
