PAKISTAN ACCEDES TO THE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION FOR THE SUPPRESSION OF THE FINANCING OF TERRORISM  

 

Yesterday, the Government of Pakistan acceded to the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism. With the accession to this Convention, Pakistan is now a Party to 11 international conventions against terrorism. This demonstrates our abiding commitment to eliminate the scourge of terrorism.

The International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 15 December 1997. The Convention requires parties to take steps to prevent and counteract the financing of terrorism. Presently, 167 States are party to this Convention.
