Courtesy call by Ambassador Dr. Israr Hussain on H.E. Mr. Milan Stech, President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic

(2017-05-11) On 11 May 2017, Ambassador Dr. Israr Hussain called on H.E. Mr. Milan Stech, President of Czech Senate (Upper House). After exchange of pleasantries, the Ambassador thanked the President of Senate for the meeting and stated that Pak-Czech relations are firmly established since the erstwhile Czechoslovakia as companies like Bata invested in sub-continent even before creation of Pakistan. He also expressed his gratitude for support rendered by Czech Republic for Pakistan's quest to obtain GSP plus status in the EU.

The Ambassador informed the Czech President of Senate that Pakistan's economy is growing at the rate of 5.6 percent per annum as reported by the Economist, which is the fastest growth rate in South-Asia after China. The Ambassador stated that Czech Republic is currently enjoying very strong economic growth therefore, the Czech businessmen and entrepreneurs should explore opportunities to invest in Pakistan.

The Ambassador remarked that Pak-Czech parliamentary relations are strong as both countries have established "parliamentary friendship groups".

The Ambassador briefed the President Senate about prevailing security situation in Pakistan and said that 99% of miscreants have been eliminated through operations Zarb-e-Azab and Rad-ul-Fasad.

H.E. Mr. Milan Stech, President of Czech Senate expressed satisfaction at the existing state of bilateral relations.

Mr. Milan Stech expressed desire to visit Pakistan in 2018 heading a business delegation.
