Pakistani Fashion and Culture Show in Prague

(2017-09-22) The Embassy of Pakistan organized a Fashion and Culture Show on the eve of 22 September 2017, the second of the series to commemorate 70th Independence anniversary of Pakistan, at prestigious neo-renaissance Zofin Palace, located on the island in Vltava river.

The Fashion show showcased Pret "named neelak' by a young and prolific Pakistani designer Ms. Zonia Anwaar, from Lahore. The Czech models presented a catwalk adorned with couture from Ms. Zonia, presenting the true image of Pakistan. This was followed by mesmerizing Kathak dance performance by a famous student of iconic Naheed Siddiqui, Mr. Rehan Bashir. Mr. Kamiar Rokni's (a renowned fashion designer from Lahore) bridal dresses were presented by Czech models after Kathak dance. Scintillating and mystifying musical performance on Sitaar and Tabla performed by famous Pakistani musician Ustad Ashraf Sharif, (Pride of Performance) and Mr. Shahbaz Hussain, plunged the audience into ecstasy.

Ambassador Dr. Israr Hussain, while delivering his welcoming remarks stated that Pakistan has achieved many landmarks in the short span of 70 years. He highlighted the efforts being made by Government for development of the country, sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in war against terror, enormous opportunities being offered to friendly countries in CPEC. He drew attention of the audience towards legitimate, long standing struggle for the right of self-determination by the people of IoK and urged it quick resolution. He also alluded to the vision 2025 for Pakistan and Czech Vision 2030.

Ing. Ivo Barek, Vice-President of Senate of Czech Republic (chief guest), stated that Pakistan was an important country for Czech Republic and both the countries enjoyed strong bilateral relations. Mr. Oldrich Lomecky, Mayor of Prague-1, Mr. Tomas Kuchta, Deputy Minister for Defence and Mr. Ivan Jancarek, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs also addressed the audience and felicitated Pakistan. They pledged to work together and to further strengthen the bilateral ties. Mr. Aaamir Atta Bajwa, Sr. Vice President of FPCCI also spoke on the occasion.

A large number of Czech dignitaries, business community, members of Czech and European Parliament, Ambassadors accredited to Prague, leading Czech businessmen as well as members of Pakistani community embellished the event with their presence.
