TALKS BY THE AMBASSADOR AT THE ACADEMIC AND MILITARY INSTITUTIONS IN BEIRUT




03/09/2010: The Ambassador of Pakistan to Beirut H.E Raana Rahim was invited by the American University of Beirut (AUB), in the seminar, where she spoke on "Pakistan’s Current Challenges and Opportunities in the Dynamics of the Region" on 24 February 2010. The seminar was organized by the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs in cooperation with the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud Center for American Studies and Research (CASAR) on the regional situation around Pakistan and our role in maintaining peace and stability in the region. It was attended by diplomatic corps’ members based in Beirut, the President of AUB, its professors and researchers of the two institutes.

During her talk, the Ambassador highlighted the sacrifices made by Pakistan in the ongoing war on terrorism. She dilated upon the sheer economic cost being suffered by Pakistan during the process.

The audience showed understanding of the challenges being faced to Pakistan and appreciated Pakistan's efforts for maintenance of peace in the region.

The Ambassador delivered a talk on Pakistan and the Regional Dynamics in the Military Staff College of Lebanon in February 2010, which also helped the audience in understanding the Pakistani position in the current situation.

The Ambassador also gave a talk on "The Role of Pakistan in South and Central Asia" in the forum of the Ambassador’s Roundtable at the American University of Science and Technology (AUST), Beirut, in January 2010.
