Family details - wife, two daughters and a son

Civil Education - Masters degree in War Studies as well as Strategic
Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad

Military Qualification

  • Graduate of Army Staff College Quetta
  • Graduate of National Defence University Islamabad
  • Graduate of Armed Forces Staff College Malaysia

Service Experience

Served for 35 years in Army from 1976 to 2012 and retired from service on completion of tenure on June 2012.

Command Experience

Served for over four years as Chief Military Spokesman and Director General of Inter Services Public relations. He has been delivering lectures on national security, military operations in FATA (Federal Administered Tribal Areas), civil-military relations and media military issues at various civil and military institutions. He comments on the above mentioned subjects in national and international publications and participates in seminars at home and abroad. He has been an active member of Pak-India Track-II diplomacy.
He has also worked with the World Bank as security consultant. he was on the board of directors of Phillip Morris (Pakistan) Limited and security adviser to Mitsubishi Limited, Pakistan.
