The Embassy of Pakistan in Belgrade processes applications for renunciation of Pakistani citizenship submitted by Pakistani citizens legally residing in the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro.
A Pakistani citizen residing outside Pakistan may apply for renunciation of Pakistani citizenship if he or she:
is not a minor;
is a citizen or national of another country, or has been issued a valid document by the competent authorities of another country assuring the grant of that country's citizenship or nationality; and
wishes to voluntarily renounce Pakistani citizenship in accordance with the provisions of the Pakistan Citizenship Act, 1951.
The applicant is required to submit a Declaration of Renunciation of Citizenship (Form "X"), in triplicate, through the Embassy of Pakistan in Belgrade. The Embassy forwards the application to the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGIP), Islamabad, for processing and registration.
The applicant shall cease to be a citizen of Pakistan from the date on which the declaration of renunciation is registered by the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGIP), Islamabad.
Where a male applicant ceases to be a citizen of Pakistan:
Every minor child residing outside Pakistan shall also cease to be a citizen of Pakistan. However, such a child may, within one year of attaining the age of 21 years, make a declaration expressing the desire to resume Pakistani citizenship and shall, upon making such declaration, become a citizen of Pakistan.
Every minor child residing in Pakistan shall continue to remain a citizen of Pakistan.
Form "X" (Declaration of Renunciation of Citizenship) may be obtained from the Embassy of Pakistan in Belgrade or downloaded.
Applicants should submit the completed application, in triplicate, together with all required supporting documents to the Embassy of Pakistan in Belgrade.
The Embassy will examine the application for completeness before forwarding it to the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGIP), Islamabad.
Applicants should ensure that the following documents are enclosed with the application:

Applications that are complete in all respects are normally processed within approximately 8-12 weeks after receipt by DGIP. However, processing may take longer depending on administrative clearances or if the application is incomplete.
Incomplete applications, missing original identity documents, or insufficient supporting documents—particularly those relating to minor children mentioned in Form "X"—may result in delays.
Applicants may enquire about the status of their application by emailing immigration@dgip.gov.pk after approximately three months from the date of submission of their application through the Embassy.
